The running theme entails watching to what lengths the police force, within the novel, will go to hide its corruption.
The attacks are heinous towards the people that get in the way of covering up a bad cop’s wake of destruction and it doesn’t stop at the officer-on-the-beat level and their history of racial atrocities. It goes all the way up to a high-ranking official who has a long list of criminals who owe him for keeping them out of jail. He pulls the strings of those criminals, and in doing so, orchestrates the harm propagated against the community to further his sick agenda. Broad strokes of the pen were used to represent the antagonists; most of the police force being not only racists, but psychopaths as well. Exploded charts magnify elements to push the data into vision and the author has used this method with his characters.
The second half entails the trial featuring the protagonist as the champion. The procedural aspect gives a glimpse into tactics used in this arena.
Injustice is the repeated message throughout this novel, comparing different political systems and its peoples, often landing heavily on one end of the scale and seemingly a Che Guevara homage at times.
It was disturbing to read this book as it brings to light the vast chasm between differing ideals and the long road ahead that must be forged to come to a sense of understanding between political camps.
The plot is fast-paced, and without question, this book was well-written.

This book was given to me for the express purpose to review and this action in no way influenced my opinion on it whatsoever.
