Tess and Beau are a young married couple with a five-year plan.

Tess has her own staffing business, Beau is a photographer on the cusp of international recognition. He is assigned to Iraq for War Time magazine and is due home any day; she is busy garnering new clients and fulfilling the needs of her business.

Tess has discovered that she’s pregnant and is on tenterhooks awaiting his arrival home. When they last skyped, she couldn’t bring herself to tell him the news because this pregnancy fell outside of the boundaries of their plan and she wasn’t really coping with it fully herself.

Days go by without word from Beau. When Tess is told that Beau’s helicopter crashed and that he is missing, presumed dead, she knows he’s alive. He’s promised her he’d come back to her. Nothing anyone says or does can convince her otherwise.

The story continues, wrapping characters and events seamlessly, pushing one dramatic event after another until the reader feels that there’s no surcease. Just when you’re given a break and feel all will be resolved, another event happens that scatters that notion to the wind, making the outcome uncertain.

Ms. Foster has the ability to negotiate with the reader’s emotions taking them on a roller coaster of a well-researched and beautifully written tale. Don’t try to guess the ending, I assure you, you won’t be able to correctly. If you take that as a challenge, I tip my hat to you.

I highly recommend this book and any others from this author for she weaves a believable world with characters that live.
