My Life in the Dirt
Author: Peter Hobbs
ASIN: B005G8B8F2

An autobiography of one very smart, very funny guy.

I’ll admit that when he got into the technical aspects of the geotechnical, slope-what’s-a-ma-engineering lingo HDPE things that I was quite lost, but he’d reel me back in with the humor about it all.

One particular incident comes to mind, (and there are many that will leave you falling off your chair laughing), was when he had to hook up to the underbelly of a helicopter while it was hovering over him. He learned that helicopters generate a lot of static electricity and the value of not touching metal. Within this same reminiscing, there was a man who was contracted to remove stumps of trees from an island. He wound up blowing up a goodly portion of the island with mathematical guessing and explosives and laughter ensued.

It’s a wonder Mr. Hobbs has survived half of what he went through, but I sure am glad he did. What a fun story this was to read. It was like sitting in the chair next to him and listening to what technicians get up to.

This book was given to me for the express purpose to review and this action in no way influenced my opinion on it whatsoever.
